Change the setting in the printer properties (Preferences and Printing Defaults) for ‘PostScript Output Option’ to ‘Optimize for Portability’ as a default.

Note that this gives different margins around the combined pages - pdfnup makes for bigger slides and less white space than Acrobat (note, I only have the reader, not Professional). Open the generated pdf file with Adobe Acrobat Professional and crop it. Other pdf printers probably work as well.
Other settings in Printer Properties that might help if font issues arise are arrowed in green in the image. Can resize and so on and get WYSIWYG while formatting. To work with the slide notes in the text block under the slide, used ‘Notes Page’ under View. (1) ‘Designed’ notes text in PPT something like Univers 12 pt for notes and 9 pt for refs/sources. I want to print out PowerPoint slides with the notes under each one, but I want more than one slide per page, which is the only PPT option.
